Peace, Land, and Bread
Issue 6

Issue 6 of Peace, Land, and Bread arrives to a world defined by repression, austerity, and accelerating imperial violence. As capitalist economy lurches deeper into crisis, the pages of PLB6 examine the fractures—and the futures—emerging through the cracks.

This issue brings together rigorous analysis and insurgent creative work. Derek R. Ford and D. Musa Springer challenge the dominant narrative around the DPRK and illuminate the lived reality of sovereignty under siege. Ted Reese reveals capitalism’s terminal decline and the material necessity of socialist planning. PaweÅ‚ Wargan exposes the “neoliberal holocaust” unleashed on Eastern Europe after the destruction of socialism. Nolan Long examines the afterlives of failed revolutions and the terrain they reshape. Kyle Ferrana analyzes the endurance and transformation of socialism in China, while Gerald Horne and Anthony Ballas recover Ho Chi Minh’s radical commitment to Black liberation as a practical model of internationalism.

Alongside this scholarship, PLB6 features original art from Earth Liberation Studio, Color Collective Press, Red Bait, and GQ, with design in a moody Soviet minimalist visual language—concrete under tension, grass rising through ruin, and lights within landscapes caught between twilight and the coming dawn. PLB6 embodies the central thesis of the overarching journal project: that creation is resistance, and authenticity survives—even under the weight of exigency and empire.

In darkness, creation continues.
